Euthanasia
Our veterinary staff at Ridgefield Animal Hospital understands the difficulty that surrounds losing a pet, especially having to decide to humanely end a pet's life. It is important that you have any questions regarding your pet's condition, treatment options, and quality of life issues answered so that you can choose to continue to treat an ill pet for a period of time, or provide your pet with a humane passing when it becomes necessary.
The grief we feel when a pet passes is as real and as emotional as any death we experience, and sometimes our friends and loved ones don't completely understand. All of us here at Ridgefield Animal Hospital have experienced these losses and are here to support you as you journey on without your companion.
Grief counseling is available locally through many licensed professional therapists who understand the loss of a pet. RainbowBridge.com and the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement are two resources you may find helpful. They were created specifically for pet loss and offer a grief support community and virtual memorial home.
Your pet can be returned to you for burial at home, or we offer cremation services, both communal and private, where you can have their ashes returned to you in a beautiful urn. You also have the option of not having the ashes returned to you. We can also capture your pet's unique paw marking with a clay paw print.
Clay Paws
The Clay Paw print captures the unique markings of your pet's paw. The wording of the print is customized to your preference and can be decorated at home with ribbon and charms. Each paw is sent home with baking instructions.
